Start with responsibility
As a business expands, responsibilities can become less clear. A useful starting point is to identify who owns each recurring task, who contributes and who can make the final decision. A named owner helps a team move work forward without making every person responsible for everything.
Make handovers explicit
A handover should explain what has been completed, what remains open and what the next person needs. Whether work moves from sales to operations or from enquiry to delivery, the receiving person should have enough context to take the next step.
Review the way work moves
Regular discussions can focus on obstacles rather than status alone. Where does work stop? Which decisions keep returning to the same manager? The answers can reveal a need for clearer instructions, training or a change in the process.
Keep the approach practical
Start with one responsibility or handover that causes repeated confusion. Clarify it, use the approach for a while and ask the team whether it helped. A system becomes useful when people can apply it consistently.
