Bringing structure to everyday work

Small repeatable steps can make recurring work easier to manage.

Choose one recurring task

Start with a task the team performs often. Write down its trigger, the information needed to begin and the point at which it is considered complete.

Build a short checklist

A checklist should contain the steps that are easy to miss or important to complete in order. Keep it short enough to use during real work, and assign an owner to keep it current.

Make exceptions visible

Not every case follows the usual path. Explain when a team member should ask for guidance and who can resolve the exception. This helps prevent a checklist from becoming a barrier to good judgement.

Improve through use

Review the checklist after the team has used it. Remove steps that add no value and clarify those that cause repeated questions. The aim is to make the next action easier to understand.
