Making informed study-abroad choices

A clear shortlist begins with the student’s academic interests and practical circumstances.

Begin with your purpose

Before comparing destinations, write down what you want to study and why. Your interests, current qualifications and longer-term plans provide a more useful starting point than selecting a country only because it is popular.

Compare complete options

Look at a course alongside its institution, teaching approach, location and likely living costs. Consider the whole period of study when planning a budget. A lower headline tuition fee does not automatically mean a lower overall cost.

Check current requirements

Entry requirements, fees and immigration rules can change. Confirm the current details with the institution and the relevant official authority before making commitments. Keep copies of important guidance and documents used in your application.

Use guidance to ask better questions

A counselling conversation can help you identify gaps in your research. Ask why a programme suits your profile and what alternatives are available. No admission or visa outcome should be treated as guaranteed. For individual guidance, contact the RG International team.
